PV project in New Jersey delivers clean energy to Mars Snackfood

Boulder / Wörrstadt. October XX 2009. juwi solar Inc. (JSI), a subsidiary of the German juwi group, has completed the construction and energization of a 2.15 MW solar energy generation facility. The new facility supplies energy for approximately 20% of the needs of the Mars Snackfood’s headquarters in Hackettstown, New Jersey. juwi solar Inc. has several other North American projects currently under construction and in its development pipeline.

The Mars solar project is owned by PSEG Solar Source LLC, a non-utility subsidiary of the Public Service Enterprise Group (PSEG), and is the largest free-field PV installation in New Jersey. It is expected to generate 2.6 million kilowatt hours of clean electricity per year, thereby avoiding the annual output of approximately 3.8 million lbs of greenhouse gas carbon dioxide. “juwi solar is excited to deliver this large-scale solar project ahead of schedule, bringing clean, renewable solar energy to Mars Snackfood US. This project demonstrates juwi solar’s ability to deliver technologically-advanced and financeable utility-scale solar solutions,” said Michael Martin, managing director of JSI. JSI is currently constructing other large-scale projects in the US owned by PSEG, such as a 12 MW project in Ohio and a 15 MW project in Florida. JSI plans to have at least 50 MWs online by the end of 2010.
