In this role, you’ll:

• Perform detailed solar project design and drafting work in AutoCAD, including:

  • Creation of construction drawing packages that integrate electrical, mechanical, structural and civil disciplines.
  • Optimizing project designs for safety, cost, quality, reliability, and ease of installation by working with a wide variety of internal and external stakeholders, including: systems, civil, electrical, mechanical, structural and SCADA engineers, vendors, and construction personnel.
  • Developing, then confirming accuracy of, the project bill of materials.
  • Performing detailed engineering calculations and specification writing.
  • Ensuring the design QA/QC process is met.
  • Integrating lessons learned from prior projects to improve future project designs.
  • Providing technical support and documentation to assist the permitting process

 

• Support JUWI’s business development team with early-stage project designs, including:

  • Completing initial site assessments and fatal flaw analyses to identify project constraints and opportunities.
  • Drafting early-stage array layouts to understand construction feasibility, then derive takeoffs for incorporation into cost models.
  • Working closely with JUWI’s generation modeling team to ensure that designs are cost-efficient and optimized.
  • Assisting with modelling project costs based upon layout parameters.

 

Qualifications:

  • Passion about renewable energy projects
  • Accredited university engineering degree and 2 years minimum design engineering experience
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, MS Word, and MS Excel. GIS experience a plus.
  • Demonstrated experience with renewable energy projects and power systems
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills
  • Excellent communication skills, and the ability to think analytically and present clearly

Procurement Manager

Title:  Procurement Manager

At JUWI, we’re taking solar energy to the next level. With the goal to bring solar power online over the next several years, we seek a Procurement Manager to match commercial and technical needs and market offerings and lead the purchase of all the required parts of a solar project.

JUWI is looking for an experienced individual who has:

      1. strong negotiation skills,
      2. business acumen, particularly with an emphasis on price analysis and finding buy-side value,
      3. a firm understanding of commercial contracts, including equipment supply and warranty contracts, and
      4. an ability to synthesize the procurement interests of project owners, JUWI engineering, budgets and JUWI global into a solid procurement strategy.

Leadership skills, the ability to self-direct work and navigate an EPC organization are essential.

A candidate with contract experience is preferred. The ideal candidate will also have excellent communication skills, attention to detail, good judgment, quantitative reasoning skills and a demonstrated ability to manage processes.

In this role, you’ll:

  • Lead and/or manage procurement transactions through the full lifecycle of the process:
    • Become familiar with applicable bills of materials prepared by the engineering team
    • Pre-qualify appropriate vendors (including financial review)
    • Organize and manage vendor Request for Proposals for upcoming projects, including the development and approval of key commercial terms
    • Support or lead negotiation of key commercial terms and coordinate with legal on key legal terms
    • Monitor company and vendor contract compliance
    • Coordinate with logistics team
    • Manage equipment change orders with suppliers
    • Support or lead warranty claim and/or vendor performance-related damage negotiations
  • Track and monitor industry news related to technological advancements of major equipment and matters that may impact pricing or availability

Product Engineer

Title:  Product Engineer

As a Product Engineer, you’ll have the opportunity to apply your industry knowledge, analytical and problem-solving capabilities, resourcefulness, and good judgement to contribute to the design, testing, qualification, production, and installation support of solar racking products for utility scale solar (PV) projects. This position will support the team across a wide variety of Product Engineering functions, and presents an opportunity be part of a broad-scoped, fast-paced team where a can-do and innovative attitude thrives.

In this role, you’ll work independently in the following areas:

  • Product Development:
    • Mechanical design of components using LEAN and DFM principles
    • Detailed documentation, working with Autodesk Inventor and Vault system, bill of materials management, detailed drawings with ECO and revision control
    • Mechanical analysis of designs with hand calculations and FEA (Nastran)
    • Prototype and testing of new and existing designs and processes
    • Migrating new components into high volume manufacturing, working with and qualifying vendors as needed
    • Document new processes with work instructions used by construction personnel.
    • Proven history of mechanical design with cost reduction
    • Develop, coordinate, and perform reliability testing. Utilize design of experiments to develop test plans, perform tests, and evaluate results. Create reliability test reports for 3rd party evaluation
    • Work with third party accredited laboratories when appropriate to achieve UL or IEC certifications
  • Product Support
    • Travel to jobsites (up to 25%), working with construction team to provide engineering support during different phases of construction and at commissioning
    • Record lessons learned from the field regarding designs and processes for continuous improvement
    • Troubleshoot problems and conduct root cause related to racking products in the field, occasionally requiring travel to project sites
    • Develop and perform in-field reliability and durability testing of racking and tracking system components at multiple JUWI test facilities

 

Qualifications:

  • Degreed Engineer from an Accredited University in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience working as an Engineer in a manufacturing or product development team environment
  • Hands-on individual, comfortable working with hand and power tools, with strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting abilities
  • Strong experience in Autodesk Inventor or Solidworks required. Working knowledge of Autodesk Vault, and finite element analysis software, such as Nastran.  Advanced knowledge of Excel.
  • Strong background in mechanical engineering principles and stress analysis is required
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented individual with history of writing reports for 3rd party review
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both orally and in writing

Operations Center Engineer

As an Operations Center Engineer, you’ll be responsible for monitoring, through the Company’s SCADA system, all JUWI projects and for providing a first response to identified operating issues.  JUWI is looking for a candidate who maintains a professional attitude with a background in engineering or other analytical disciplines and who has excellent communication skills, both orally and in writing. The position requires a flexible shift work schedule.

In this role, you’ll:

  • Monitor on a real time basis various operating solar plants utilizing the Company’s SCADA system from sun up to sun down, 7 days a week.
  • Receive, log and initiate in an informed manner an initial response to all plant alarms.
  • Ensure established trouble shooting procedures are initiated, including informing third party contractors, owners and other JUWI personnel as required.
  • Dispatch of contractors to perform scheduled and unscheduled maintenance.
  • Provide troubleshooting direction and collaborate on difficult problems with site personnel.
  • Ensure industry and company safety standards are implemented during onsite work.
  • Follow-up on all incidents to ensure final required actions have been completed.
  • Maintain professional and effective relationships with all project stakeholders, establishing a basis of trust and confidence.
  • Identify operating issues with the SCADA system, initiating SCADA system troubleshooting actions as needed and recommending design changes to enable more effective project monitoring and analysis.
  • Perform initial energy production analysis for operating facilities, tracking production and identifying anomalies for action by others.
  • Effectively communicate information on plant operating concerns to other Operations Center team members during shift overlaps.
  • Troubleshoot site equipment including inverters, trackers, instruments, transformers, SCADA systems and other solar related hardware with other field personnel.
  • Work with Systems Group to evaluate plant performance and troubleshoot performance issues.
  • Contribute to reporting and forecast systems, working with Systems Group to enhance performance and reliability.

Civil Engineer

Title: Civil Engineer

As a Civil Engineer, you’ll execute JUWI’s civil design activities such as guiding the civil design approach of JUWI’s projects, selecting external consulting engineering firms, reviewing consultants’ work, while interacting with and supporting the Engineering, Project Development, and Construction teams at all stages of project completion. The Civil Engineer is a multi-faceted position requiring a capable professional with demonstrated experience in large-scale civil design and consultant management and you will have guidance and support from the Senior Civil Engineer as a mentor.

In this role, you’ll:

Project Development

  • Participate in site selection and layout while considering environmental, geotechnical, and civil risks.
  • Generate development, civil design, and construction budgets.
  • Evaluate site studies and project schedules.
  • Perform preliminary design and calculations for grading, drainage, erosion control and access road design.
  • Work with the Racking group regarding racking layout and project design, considering topography, access, soil characteristics and site geometry.
  • Incorporate Systems and Development Engineering groups’ generation optimization inputs influenced by slope, azimuth, and grading costs.

 

Consultant Selection and Management

  • Organize development of land surveying, civil and geotechnical engineer design consultants Scope of Work for all projects.
  • Manage external land surveying consultants on the creation of boundary surveys, ALTA surveys, aerial and topographic surveys, easements, and stakeout requirements for all projects.
  • Manage external geotechnical engineering consultants for project earthwork, foundation design, soil reports, utility crossings, etc.
  • Assist civil designers and review plans for compliance with JUWI and jurisdictional requirements.
  • Assist in the development of Scope of Work for civil construction subcontractor agreements.
  • Review submittals and respond to requests for information from civil subcontractors.

 

Permitting

  • Research and apply jurisdiction-specific civil design requirements for site plans and civil construction drawings.
  • Apply for and maintain local, state and federal permitting efforts.
  • Evaluate roads adjacent to job site for use before, during and after construction.

 

Travel to Job Sites

  • Work with Construction team members in overseeing civil subcontractor on-site performance.
  • Travel to potential and active projects to assist development and construction teams.

 

Ensure JUWI’s high-quality, safe, and cost-effective design in all aspects of project execution.

Qualifications:

  • Degree in civil or environmental engineering
  • 4-6 years of civil design experience
  • Strong proficiency with AutoCAD Civil 3D
  • Professional Engineering license preferred
  • Knowledge of national civil design codes and requirements (ASTM, ACI, MUTCD, etc.)

Logistics Coordinator

JUWI has established an aggressive target for bringing solar power online over the next several years and is seeking a Logistics Coordinator to support the company’s goals. The ideal candidate is a solution-oriented logistics professional with an understanding of basic electrical components (wire/cable, terminations, communications, solar panels), excellent communication skills, attention to detail, good judgment, and a demonstrated ability to manage transportation, receiving and inventory processes.  An ideal candidate is willing and able to support work that is adjacent to logistics in JUWI’s workflow, such as procurement and construction.

 In this role you’ll:

The Logistics Coordinator’s key functions are:

  • Cooperate with JUWI’s Procurement Department, Project Management and Electrical Design Engineers to understand and facilitate project and material delivery schedules.
  • Daily/weekly scheduling and coordination of equipment deliveries to project sites by collaborating with manufacturers, suppliers, and their carriers.
  • Communicating weekly equipment delivery updates to JUWI’s project site managers and subcontractors and keeping them informed of any delays.
  • Holding equipment suppliers accountable to their transportation and delivery obligations by understanding Purchase Order requirements and the Supply Agreements and Contracts that govern them.
  • Troubleshooting delivery related delays/issues and communicating implications to internal employees.
  • Troubleshooting inventory and materials management issues with JUWI site team and subcontractors.
  • Assisting with site demobilizations of construction sites by capturing/storing usable inventory for future projects.
  • Assist with logistics and recording information into company accounting system.

 

In addition to the responsibilities listed above, the Logistics Coordinator will also:

  • Be main point of contact between project site, material supplier, and carrier for deliveries.
  • Collaborate with JUWI’s Procurement and Electrical Design Engineers to understand and facilitate delivery requirements.
  • Resolve delivery related issues at project site with JUWI site team, subcontractor, carrier and supplier.
  • Understand and ensure carrier compliance on projects delivery requirements – delivery dates/times, haul routes, PPE, and operating in a safe/reasonable manner while on project site.
  • Create, provide, and maintain spreadsheet-based weekly material delivery schedule for all projects.
  • Assist with auditing project site to ensure receiving/inventory procedures are implemented, being utilized, and effective.
  • Maintain open and transparent communication with JUWI’s procurement, accounting, project management, product engineering and construction groups.

 

Qualifications:

  • University degree or demonstrated academic competency in logistics-related field

$60,000 – $75,000

Preconstruction Project Manager

Title: Preconstruction Project Manager

At JUWI Inc., we’re taking solar energy to the next level. We are bringing multiple utility scale solar power projects online over the next several years and seeking a Preconstruction Project Manager to bring our vision to life.

 The Preconstruction Project Manager will be responsible for coordinating, executing, and supervising all preconstruction activities on an assigned JUWI project site.  A strong candidate will have experience in the preconstruction phase of large infrastructure projects and demonstrated leadership and communication skills. The Preconstruction Project Manager will provide management support and direction for projects.  Work to be located at both JUWI’s Boulder, Colorado headquarters and assigned project sites in the US.

In this role, you’ll:

  • Support and assist project teams during development, engineering, and construction phases.
  • Coordinate with logistic teams during early planning phases of projects.
  • Assist with project permitting efforts.
  • Maintain proper records and documentation pertaining to construction projects.
  • Contribute to the development of construction plans and schedules.
  • Prepare and assist with project estimates/budgets.
  • Maintain and develop historical data for unit prices.
  • Coordinate project mobilization/demobilization of internal project teams (lodging, local resources).
  • Assist with management of Construction RFPs, bid evaluation sheets, subcontractor selection, pre-bid meetings and pre-construction meetings.
  • Assist with negotiation of construction contracts.
  • Develop list of capable contractors for various work locations.
  • Develop effective relationships with contractors, suppliers, landowners and the community.
  • Develop effective and supportive relationships with colleagues.
  • Become completely familiar with all project documents.
  • Assist in developing the basic plan for executing and controlling the project.
  • Assist in the preparation of project construction procedures and document control.
  • Assist in the preparation of the project schedule.
  • Review project activities for conformity to all Code and Standard provisions.

 

Qualifications:

  • Accredited university degree (engineering or construction management preferred).
  • Working knowledge of state, federal and insurance regulations as well as requirements that apply to major power plant design and construction projects.
  • Excellent time management skills.
  • Willingness to travel up to 25% – 50% and work flexible hours.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop management control programs.
  • Be proficient in short- and long-range planning techniques.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills.
  • Positive ‘Can-do’ attitude.
  • Ability to plan, coordinate, and analyze situations.
  • Thorough understanding of construction contracts and associated paperwork requirements.
  • Demonstrated ability to give presentations and perform training in both the management and technical areas, in addition to developing such programs.
  • Demonstrated people skills, both inside and outside the project team, such as motivation, team building, conflict resolution, and resource allocation.
  • Demonstrated efficiency in managing multi-disciplinary tasks.
