Business Development Analyst

Title: Business Development Analyst
Location: Boulder, CO
Start Date: Immediately
Reports to: VP, Commercial Transactions

At juwi, we’re taking solar energy to the next level. With the goal to bring solar power online over the next several years, we seek a Business Development Analyst to bring our vision to life.

The Business Development Analyst will be responsible and accountable for supporting and executing the origination strategy of the company in the North American market. The Business Development Analyst will work closely with the company’s senior management group, Finance and Legal teams as well as the Business Development team leadership to execute the company’s origination goals. The position will present an opportunity to connect and collaborate with senior leadership and well as have meaningful access to the company’s thought-leaders through an active mentoring and sponsorship model.

In this role, you’ll:

  • Generally support the Business Development group activities as assigned by the Business Development team leadership, senior management and other related functional groups within the company, including the Finance and Legal groups; representative tasks may include
    • Conducting market research,
    • Supporting senior executives with idea generation, analysis and advice on origination and execution of new projects, 
    • Supporting the Finance and Project Development groups for purposes of creating relevant financial models,
    • Collecting business and technical content from diverse functional groups within the company and incorporating such content into Business Development deliverables,
    • Identifying process bottlenecks or resource constraints in connection with assigned tasks and communicating them to supervisors on a timely basis,
    • Making recommendations regarding the prioritization of origination priorities,
    • Proactively reporting the status of assigned business development tasks to the Business Development team leadership
  • Take ownership of the company’s goal to generate energy project proposals on a high-volume basis, including 
    • Preparing Request-For-Proposal responses (managing and collecting content and drafting the proposals),
    • Creating and sending out unsolicited proposals to potential customers,
    • Working on multiple projects and transactions at any given time with multiple teams, 
    • Managing, updating and supplementing the company’s customer database
  • Implement, execute and improve the tools and documentation used to communicate and report origination opportunities and priorities and the Business Development activities that are underway in support of these initiatives
  • In connection with the tools and documentation described above, maintain and promote clear communication with and among the company’s Finance, Project Development, Legal and Business Development groups about the status of business origination activities and opportunities
  • Arrange and facilitate/lead customer meetings among the Business Development team, the company’s senior management and potential customers once an origination opportunity has sufficiently ripened
  • Effectuate a clean “hand off” of project opportunities to the company’s Project Development group

 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree with 0 – 5 years of professional experience.
  • Highly skilled in MS Excel, PowerPoint and Word.
  • Analytical skills for problem solving.
  • Demonstrated efficiency in completing multi-disciplinary tasks.
  • Detailed-oriented and able to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability and willingness to travel through the United States and work flexible hours. 
  • Desire to grow professionally.
  • Interest in renewable energy.
  • Experience managing and prioritizing multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Strong team player with whatever it takes attitude.

Annual Base Salary Range:

$55,000-$70,000

The final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications and experience.  This position is eligible for a discretionary annual bonus based on certain company and individual performance metrics.

Director, Finance

Title: Director, Finance
Location: Boulder, CO

At juwi, we’re taking solar energy to the next level. With the goal to bring hundreds of MWs of solar power online over the next several years, we seek a Director, Finance to bring our vision to life.

The Director, Finance will be responsible for managing and administering certain aspects of the commercial, financial and business development operations for juwi’s activities in North America. As a key member of the management team, the Director, Finance will be responsible for the oversight of project sale/financing and financial analysis functions. The Director, Finance will report to the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) and directly work with management on certain strategic and tactical matters as they relate to project viability analysis, business development, project execution and the securing of new funding.

In this role, you’ll lead certain Finance team activities, including:

  • Work with senior management on developing and executing the business development and financing strategies of the company.
  • Participate in developing new business opportunities, including helping identify and foster new markets and transaction counterparties. Attend meetings with potential counterparties.
  • Identify prospective counterparties for the sale of the company’s projects.
  • Lead financing processes to obtain funding for the company’s projects.
  • Participate in contract negotiations during the development and execution phases of projects for the company.
  • Supervise the maintenance and improvement of financial and EPC models for project evaluation, including performing various sensitivity analyses.
  • Understand the intricacies of various debt and equity financing structures, including construction and long-term project financing (term loans and tax equity).
  • Research, understand and model government incentives applicable to the company’s projects.
  • Support the Finance team in developing juwi’s financial forecasts, liquidity forecasts and business plans that will ultimately be presented to juwi group’s headquarters in Germany.
  • Manage and provide guidance to certain Finance team members.

 

Qualifications:

  • Undergraduate degree in business, finance, economics, engineering, or similar; graduate degree or CFA a plus.
  • Minimum of 10 years of financial experience and management experience with the day-to-day financial operations.
  • Knowledge of the electricity generation industry. Knowledge of organized power markets a plus.
  • Proven ability to build and understand complex, detailed and accurate financial models.
  • Excellent understanding of MS Excel; proficiency in PowerPoint and Word.
  • Strong analytical skills for problem solving and excellent attention to detail.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, excellent communication (oral and written) skills.
  • Some project related travel is expected, a willingness to work flexible hours.
  • Desire to grow professionally and work in Boulder, CO.

Manager, Business Development

Title: Manager, Business Development

This Business Development role will be responsible and accountable for contributing to the development and execution of the origination strategy of the company in a defined geography within the North American market. This Business Development role will work closely with the company’s senior management group, Finance and Legal teams as well as the Business Development team leadership to execute the company’s origination goals. The position will present an opportunity to connect and collaborate with senior leadership as well as have meaningful access to the company’s thought-leaders through an active mentoring and sponsorship model.

In this role, you’ll:

  • Originate new business development opportunities for North America
  • Successfully assess new opportunities based on a thorough understanding of the North American energy business, including markets, technology and competitors; be able to quickly identify attractive opportunities and decline unattractive ones
  • Successfully execute attractive growth opportunities, including greenfield and M&A projects
  • Work closely and negotiate with commercial counterparties, government entities and other stakeholders on projects/transactions
  • Successfully advocate internally for growth opportunities, including presentations to the senior management team
  • Review and analyze market opportunities and develop recommendations
  • Liaise with all internal stakeholders as required to gain sign off and approval of opportunities
  • Complete internal corporate requirements for reporting on development of growth opportunities 

 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree; Master’s degree preferred
  • Minimum 2 plus years of experience in business development in the energy industry
  • Has strong experience in and understanding of the North American power sector, including legal/regulatory aspects, market environment, competition, stakeholders and counterparties
  • Has a strong network of relationships among key stakeholders in the market/industry
  • Has strong knowledge and capabilities in all the aspect of project development, including an understanding of power sales, commercial markets, permitting, transmission/interconnection, contracts, land acquisition
  • Can manage and prioritize multiple projects simultaneously
  • Results driven, teamwork oriented, analytical, creative and fun  
  • Can be an effective spokesperson and public relations representative for juwi Inc. 
  • Strong negotiating and problem-solving skills with emphasis on attention to detail 
  • Highly skilled in MS Excel, PowerPoint and Word
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills 
  • Ability to react quickly to changing business and project needs
  • Willingness to embrace culture change aimed at improved business and team performance
