Financial Analyst

juwi has a proven track record with more than 500MW of solar generating facilities built and currently in operation. The Company has established an aggressive target for bringing solar power on line over the next several years and is looking to fill the position of Financial Analyst to support the company’s growth. The Financial Analyst position will be responsible for a wide variety of financial analysis in supporting the Company’s business development opportunities.

juwi is looking for an individual who has demonstrated strong financial analysis and modeling skills.  The ideal candidate will also have strong oral and written communication skills and a passion for renewable energy. The position will be based in Boulder, Colorado and will report to the Chief Financial Officer.

Principal Position Description: 

  • Financial Modeling – Contribute to developing and financing solar projects with detailed and well-documented financial modeling and analysis;
    • Research, understand, and model detailed tax implications and incentives for projects;
    • Provide optimization analysis to project design teams comparing different project designs;
    • Support land team negotiations with lease versus buy analysis and equivalent pricing scenarios;
    • Collaborate with multiple departments to gather and verify accuracy of inputs for financial models; and
    • Deliver timely and accurate financial components of request for proposals including business & financial documents and the calculation of electricity bid prices.
  • Project Financing – Assist in all aspects of project financing processes;
    • Responsible for coordinating with headquarters for internal approvals and credit support;
    • Assist in preparing project summary materials for investors;
    • Coordinates with various departments to satisfy investor questions; and
    • Deal support and ad-hoc analysis.
  • Financial Planning and Analysis – Support the finance team in developing juwi’s financial forecasts and business plans that will ultimately be presented to juwi-group’s headquarters in Germany;
    • Maintain accurate and timely financial reporting to juwi-group’s headquarters; and
    • Assist finance team with Treasury functions, including cash flow forecasts and intercompany loan documentation.

 

Position Requirements:

  • Undergraduate degree in finance, economics, engineering, or similar; progress toward CFA a plus
  • Proven ability to build and run complex, detailed and accurate financial models
  • Excellent understanding of MS Excel; proficiency in PowerPoint and Word
  • Strong analytical skills for problem solving and excellent attention to detail
  • Strong interpersonal skills, excellent communication (oral and written) skills

Operations Center Engineer

FUNCTION:

juwi has established an aggressive target for bringing solar power on line over the next several years and is looking to fill one Operations Center Engineer position adding to the current team in support of the company’s growth.  The Operations Center Engineer will be responsible for monitoring, through the Company’s SCADA system, all juwi projects and for providing a first response to identified operating issues.

juwi is looking for a candidate who maintains a professional attitude with a background in engineering or other analytical disciplines and who has excellent communication skills, both orally and in writing. The position requires a flexible shift work schedule and will be based in Boulder, Colorado reporting to the VP, Operations.

POSITION DESCRIPTION:

  • Monitor on a real time basis various operating solar plants utilizing the Company’s SCADA system.
  • Receive, log and initiate in an informed manner an initial response to all plant alarms.
  • Ensure established trouble shooting procedures are initiated, including informing third party contractors, owners and other juwi personnel as required.
  • Dispatch of contractors to perform scheduled and unscheduled maintenance.
  • Provide troubleshooting direction and collaborate on difficult problems with site personnel.
  • Follow-up on all incidents to ensure final required actions have been completed.
  • Maintain professional and effective relationships with all project stakeholders, establishing a basis of trust and confidence.
  • Identify operating issues with the SCADA system, initiating SCADA system troubleshooting actions as needed and recommending design changes to enable more effective project monitoring and analysis.
  • Perform initial energy production analysis for operating facilities, tracking production and identifying anomalies for action by others.
  • Effectively communicate information on plant operating concerns to other Operations Center team members during shift overlaps.
  • Troubleshoot site equipment including inverters, trackers, instruments, transformers, SCADA systems and other solar related hardware with other field personnel.
  • Work with Systems Group to evaluate plant performance and troubleshoot performance issues.
  • Contribute to reporting and forecast systems, working with Systems Group to enhance performance and reliability.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Accredited university degree (engineering, mathematics, sciences) with some applicable work experience preferred.
  • Basic knowledge of energy generation principles.
  • Analytical skills, with the ability to investigate and diagnose diverse occurrences.
  • Familiarity with Matlab or similar analytical software tool.
  • Basic SCADA knowledge is preferred.
  • Strong computer skills, including familiarity with web based systems and software tools, including MS Office (Word, Excel, Powerpoint) and Database Management software (such as Access).
  • Excellent time management skills with strong organizational skills and ability.
  • Autonomous: take initiative and organize work in an independent manner.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.  Ability to discuss complex situations with others in person or by telephone and to coordinate an agreed action plan.

FUNCTION:

The Director, Construction will be responsible for directing, developing and leading juwi Inc.’s on-site construction personnel and safety program. The Director, Construction will establish and continue contractor relationships and provide management support for construction sites and project managers.  The Director, Construction will be charged with ensuring the successful execution of juwi’s construction projects from the pre-construction and contractor RFP phase through final acceptance under EPC contracts.  This position will lead the hiring and training of new construction employees and will travel to active construction sites frequently for oversight and support of the permanent juwi field team.  The Director, Construction will maintain the juwi safety plan, schedule and review third-party safety audits and be responsible for implementing preventative safety measures and post-incident reporting.

POSITION DESCRIPTION:

  • Supervise project managers, all juwi site construction personnel and juwi and contract safety personnel.
  • Lead negotiation of subcontracts
  • Provide leadership and guidance to juwi project managers
  • Determine juwi construction staffing needs for projects and lead any required hiring needs
  • Ensure safety procedures are established and followed by all personnel on site
  • Ensure all construction permitting requirements are followed and managed
  • Develop list of capable contractors for various work locations; maintain good working relations with contractors’ managements
  • Establish competitive bidding process for construction contractors; evaluate contractors for specific projects and present analysis and recommendations to Management
  • Review project designs and provide feedback to the engineering team
  • Provide a cost and schedule assessment of ‘construction issues’ to project managers for projects in development (e.g. remoteness, inclement weather, peculiar site characteristics) and review all project cost models
  • Oversee development of construction “Scope of Work” for contractors, with input from engineering and project management
  • Monitor and assure subcontractor performance, quality, and onsite conduct.
  • Assign and schedule the utilization of JSI construction, commissioning and SCADA implementation personnel in support of project schedules
  • Ensure project completion within established cost, schedule and quality requirements
  • Champion the resolution of site issues identified by construction personnel or others; obtain input from parties such as engineering, procurement and project management
  • Attend monthly site meetings with contractors’ management
  • Recommend course of action to project managers on issues affecting schedule, cost, quality, scope of work or warranty considerations
  • Develop and implement work processes to ensure productive and safe work processes
  • Review recommended actions on Change Orders from project managers
  • Provide construction input to cost savings initiatives; ensure construction related savings are achieved by engaging qualified contractors in project estimating exercises
  • Based in Boulder with frequent travel to job sites

Project Manager

FUNCTION:

The Project Manager will be responsible for assuring that all steps of development and construction are completed in a timely and cost-effective manner.  The Project Manager will be charged with project-level oversight and coordination of the design of electrical, civil, structural and mechanical components of solar projects, along with the oversight of how local, state, federal, utility and landowner constraints are incorporated in the project documents.  The Project Manager will provide project information for negotiation of off-take agreements, interconnection agreements, EPC agreements and subcontracts. In addition, the Project Manager will support the company’s business development efforts by supporting bid proposals.

POSITION DESCRIPTION:

  • Oversee projects with focus on technical, commercial and economic components of the project.
  • Manage day-to-day operational aspects of the project, enforcing juwi’s project standards while minimizing company exposure to development and installation risks.
  • Supervise the involvement of project team members to ensure proper communication, timely and efficient execution and appropriate input from decision makers.
  • Hold weekly team meetings and maintain a current list of project action items.
  • Coordinate company resources with other project managers.
  • Understand all permitting constraints and assures that projects receive and maintain all permits required.
  • Track and report team hours and expenses and maintain accurate oversight of the project budgets.
  • Assure designated project team members are managing the work performed by consultants and subcontractors.

  • Monitor and keep updated the overall project development schedule integrating the EPC schedule with the schedule of permits, authorizations and other contractual obligations.
  • Assure that corrective actions to mitigate the effects of schedule and budget changes are implemented.
  • Manage project status.
  • Support Contracts.
  • Lead scope of work for subcontractors.

Logistics Manager

The ideal candidate is a solution-oriented logistics professional with excellent communication skills, attention to detail, good judgment, and a demonstrated ability to manage transportation, receiving and inventory processes.

FUNCTION:

The Logistics Manager’s key functions are:
• managing other logistics team members,
• sourcing and managing carrier services for juwi’s supply chain,
• arranging the logistics for construction site mobilization and demobilization activities,
• holding equipment suppliers and carriers accountable to their transportation and delivery obligations and troubleshooting issues,
• communicating equipment delivery updates to juwi’s project managers and on-site personnel,
• self-managing inventory and warehousing activities for juwi’s surplus materials, and
• collaborating with relevant juwi departments to integrate logistics with juwi’s procurement, accounting, project management, product engineering and construction activities.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:

In addition to the responsibilities listed above, the Logistics Manager will also:
• Negotiate with suppliers and carriers to optimize delivery of materials
• Manage mobilization and demobilization of project sites efficiently and cost effectively
• Create and maintain a spreadsheet-based material delivery schedule for all projects
• Direct inbound logistics operations, including transportation, warehousing activities, safety performance and quality management
• Facilitate customs-related activities, including importation of major equipment from international suppliers
• Develop contingency warehousing plans for storing delivered equipment near project sites in case of construction delays
• Mitigate the effects of logistics variances on construction schedules and budgets and troubleshoot issues in coordination with project management and construction groups
• Create best practices, policies and procedures for all of the company’s logistics activities
• Analyze the financial impact of any proposed logistics changes
• Communicate well with juwi’s procurement, accounting, project management, product engineering and construction groups
• Support procurement activities such as sending out RFQs, generating purchase orders in accounting system, tracking approvals, confirmations, and change orders
• Enforce relevant contractual obligations against suppliers such as delay liquidated damages

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Minimum of three years’ experience in logistics management
